Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Till three in the morning, when Little Man woke,
Till three in the morning, when Little Man woke,
"It's time to make gingerbread," our Christian spoke.
Back to bed, till the morning light glowed,
What a Christmas surprise, a dusting of snow!
A birthday cake for Jesus, baked with such care,
Then stockings and presents, there were plenty to share.
The excitement of the day, seen on the faces of all,
May we never forget, God's treasure so small.
That was sent to the world, the babe, God's Son,
Your love, mercy, and grace, may we think of it often.
